The club itself, which had been a popular stop on what was known as the "Chitlin' Circuit," is no longer there, but Charlie's home is along with a reconstruction of his motel that was listed in THE GREEN BOOK, a guide for African-American travelers during segregation.

The tour was terrible. The guide talked fast and never stop talking to allow any questions. We were driven around for two hours on a hot humid trolley whose air conditioning did not work. There was nothing to see from the trolley and the first of only two stops consisted of looking into a photography store window and the guide showing us a post card of building that the studio usually has a picture of but no longer exists .

We are sorry that you did not have the experience that we would have wanted for you. The AC situation that occurred yesterday is being addressed. And the historic photo display is constantly changing due to the pictures' popularity and significance. We pack a lot a history into two hours and are constantly referencing points of interest. Many of your fellow passengers expressed how much they enjoyed the tour. Our second stop at the Charlie's Place Historic Site is an opportune time at about midway through the tour to ask any questions you may have.
