We took this tour while on a quick vacation to Kauai. Our main goal on this trip was to hit some snorkel spots, and relax a bit. A boat tour seemed like a good diversion from driving around the island and looking for parking, so we booked this with Captain J's.
We had an excellent experience on this trip. The check-in process was easy, the office staff was friendly, and they moved us to the boat and onto the water fairly quickly. The boat was clean and fast, fun to ride in, and it had a bathroom -- which was nice, as all boats on tours like this don't. They had a great speaker system and played great music was we sped along the coast, dancing over the waves. It was a beautiful day and this was a great way to experience Kaua'i.
The captain did a nice job navigating the area, stopping at lots of points of interest to tell us about stuff we were seeing. Oh, and I'll mention it again, the boat was FAST. We were out early, saw everything and were back before other boats, only because they couldn't keep up. The young man who was the "crew" did a lot of the talking, explaining what we were seeing, and he was informative, humorous, and infused the experience with a fun, friendly, local personality. It was good -- they were very attentive to our needs, coming by with offers of drinks and plenty of snacks after the snorkel. The captain even inquired about his "driving" and how we were feeling on the front of the boat -- where most of the "action" (bumping" is felt as we hit waves.
I should also note that they took time to stop for photos and our crew kid ( sorry buddy I don't remember your name) was nice enough to snap pics of everyone who wanted one with their cameras/phones.
I have zero complaints, and while I probably would do this particular tour again -- having see the area already, I would definitely do Captain J's tours to other locations in the future.
One last comment -- and this is not a negative for Captain J or this tour, but I would just point out that this in more of a Na Pali Coast tour (exactly as the title says) than a snorkel trip. Yes, we did get in the water and snorkel. They had nice equipment and we spent maybe an hour at one point swimming around a reef where we were lucky enough to see a sea turtle and lots of fish. So... two thumbs up for that!
For some people perhaps that's exactly what you're looking for. We were definitely excited to see a large swath of the Kaua'i coast that we otherwise would not have gotten to see. But if you want a tour where you stop at 3 or 4 reefs over several hours and snorkel in different areas, this is not that.
Again, not a negative for the tour or Captain J... we were not disappointed at all by what they delivered on this tour -- it was well worth it. I just think that from an experience perspective someone reading this review should understand that this is a tour first with snorkeling ....rather than snorkeling with a tour -- if that makes sense.
We thank the Captain and the curly haired blond kid who was our crew for doing a great job, very professional and focused on giving us an experience that was worth the time and money.
