Experience the Napa wine region in a unique way – on the Napa Valley Wine Trolley. Hop aboard the Original San Francisco Cable Car Wine Tour, a historical replica of a San Francisco cable car and grab a seat on a special wine tasting adventure you will never forget. This open-air trolley will let you experience the picturesque vineyards like no other tour.

The Up Valley Castle Tour heads north on a San Francisco Cable Car to Calistoga. The first stop is at Castello di Amorosa, a winery modeled after a 13th-century Tuscan castle for an extensive tasting. You will then enjoy an lunch at the famous Tre Vigne Pizzeria followed by stops at two other notable Napa Valley wineries. A knowledgeable guide will provide fun facts and information about Napa’s famous wines.

What To Expect

After pickup from your designated meeting point in Yountville, your Napa Valley Wine Trolley tour takes you north on Highway 29, the scenic St Helena Highway. Make yourself comfortable in the open-air motorized trolley, and listen to commentary from your guide as you enjoy the fresh air and vineyard views during the drive up to the St Helena and Calistoga areas. After about 30 minutes, you’ll reach your first of three wineries, Castello di Amorosa.

Unfortunately, our experience was impaired by some bad weather, which made the ride on the trolley quite cold. Only the middle section has some protection from the elements. Aside from these uncontrollable events, for experiences like this, unfortunately, there is not a one-size fits all. We would have preferred spending more time at the Castello di Amorosa (castle). We found the other two stops interesting but enjoyed the first one the best. The pizza lunch provided was nice. One thing to keep in mind is entrance fees. The experience does not include them, and some of the fees can be a little steep, so make sure you are aware of these costs before booking. Overall, we had a good time, but next time, we may elect a designated driver and stop at places that interest us the most. Napa has so much to offer!

Very disappointed that we were not on a trolley but a van. This was not the experience we paid for. The description of the tour offers so much more than the actual tour itself. The driver was great but we paid for a trolley tour to take us around Napa Valley we could have driven ourselves to the vineyards. We were highly excited about a trolley until the van showed up and stated the trolley wasn’t working.

First let me apologies for not having a trolley available for your tour. Yes it is true that the trolley was experiencing some mechanical issues that day. While we never like to have to send an alternative vehicle instead of a trolley sometimes it is out of our control. Please give our office a call so we can provide some type of compensation or additional tickets for the future for you.
