Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.

When companies like this advertise what you might see in the best possible circumstances, that was our tour. The organisation prior to boarding was excellent and the crew on board were knowledgeable and helpful. They were able to adapt the food to meet my gluten free requirements and provided help throughout the day. The drinks on-board are reasonably priced. The captain ensured there was plenty of time to observe the wildlife and glaciers whilst providing information on what we were seeing. Alongside the humpback whales and orcas that we saw, we managed to see a small grey whale. As this was out of season and the captain wasn't certain she radioed for guidance to ensure we knew what we had seen. The crew then provided a book for passengers to discover more. The stop off at Fox Island was well organised and again very helpful staff Probably the best trip we have ever been on.

We saw otters, eagles, puffins, sea lions, seals and best of all, whales! The whales were bubble feeding! We even got to hear their vocalizations! Great trip!

Really fantastic Captain and her crew and excellent animal spotting made this cruise an absolutely wonderful experience. We saw a pod of 13 humpbacks bubble feeding which was amazing, another solo humpback, a killer whale, and many puffins, sea lions, and bald eagles. The Captain's narration was perfect. I didn't think the dinner on Fox Island was as bad as others have related although do think the tour would have been fine without the Fox Island addition so would possibly recommend just doing the longest boat tour without Fox Island.
