When we got to the meeting place for the tour, our guide was there just scrolling on her phone. She asked if we were there for the ghost tour then went straight back to her phone. When she started the tour (15 min late) she didnā€™t introduce herself (I still have no idea what her name was), didnā€™t welcome us, just told us to follow her across the street. She really seemed not to care about giving a good tour at all. Her story telling often failed to connect the dots unless someone asked. Why does Cornelius Vanderbiltā€™s ghost haunt a Yale dormitory? I asked, but Iā€™m not sure she knew the answer, other than the building is named after him, which doesnā€™t really make sense. I could go on, but you get the picture. The tour was advertised as 90 minutes but ours barely lasted 60 minutes. Not worth the money.

Tried to reserve a tour on 12/19/20 for me, my bf and my friend and her date, but the employees within this company were unprofessional. First time the manager called he asked if me and my group could reschedule to the 18th, which I said no because we honestly couldn't. Next he called me 2 days prior to the 19th to ask if we could reschedule our tour from the designated 7:30pm time to 9:30pm because his tour guide was working another job. Although I already felt the scheduling issues were unprofessional, I decided to work with New Haven Ghost Tours. I know it's been a hard year, so no problem, I moved all my dinner reservations around so 9:30pm could work. The day of, maybe 3 hours prior, I received a call stating our tour guide had sprained his ankle and couldn't give us a tour. After receiving the previous two calls it is very difficult for me to believe just 3 hours prior to our tour that our tour guide in fact had sprained his ankle. If it is true, then I hope he gets better soon. Regardless, the several phone calls asking me to move my schedule around was unprofessional. If the tours are advertised as Friday & Saturday nights at 7:30pm, I'm not sure why their employees wouldn't be available. I have a marketing and customer service background so I understand stuff happens, but the multiple strikes of unprofessionalism/flakiness made a sour impression on me. If New Haven Ghost Tours had advertised their business hours as based on availability and/or had let me know from the first phone call that Saturday was very difficult for them, then no problem, I wouldn't be writing this review. Again, stuff happens and we can't control everything. What we can control is how we respond to a situation and I felt in this case, New Haven Ghost Tour handled this unprofressionally.

Our guide had a good energy that just made me want to listen to every word she had to say. Advice to others is to wear walking shoes and dress for the weather although I had no issues personally. It was a great experience that made me feel much more connected to the area.
