What To Expect
1
Hurricane Katrina Memorial
On the former site of Charity Hospital’s paupers’ field, this ominous but oddly affecting circle of tombs holds the bodies of 85 unclaimed victims of the 2005 levee failures and the names of others who perished. It’s an unfussy place that’s easily missed, the better for contemplative solitude, perhaps. Surrounded by a storm-shaped series of pathways, the memorial does its duty in giving one substantial pause.
2
City Park
City Park is as magical and unique as the city of New Orleans. The 1,300-acre outdoor oasis has enchanted New Orleanians since 1854, making it one of the nation’s oldest urban parks. Each year, millions of visitors stroll under the same historic oaks and picturesque moss canopies that served as the backdrop for dances, concerts and even gentlemanly duels or ā€œaffaires d’honneurā€ for generations.

I could complain about the slight disorganization of the check-in, but it really isn’t worth that. I loved it. I think our guide made it a top notch experience. Find Steven if you’re doing this tour! Great tour, and it didn’t hurt that we had the bestest guide...Steven. He enlightened us the entire drive with his knowledge of the NOLA and the cemeteries, and of course his wittiness. The time spent at Charity Cemetery was fun. I’d say it wasn’t quite long enough, but it was definitely fun. To see the words come across and try to make our our version of what it all meant. It was well worth the money we spent. Definitely spend the money on this one (we used a groupon)! It was the highlight of my week here!!!

Not at all interesting because in reality it is not possible to visit cemeteries at night. Apart from a small accessible cemetery, for the others we take pictures over the fence. The guide does his best to tell stories but for the price we do not visit much...
