Ernie was our tour guide and he was a treasure, in depth knowledge from the history of Louisiana, New Orleans, slavery and how to tell the difference from up river and down river... (forget your compass!) Thoroughly enjoyed not only Cemetery 1 and it's history and inhabitants but also the detailed background of how the cemetery is maintained and continues to be populated. The walking tour included a stop at Congo Square, Basin Street Station and Our Lady of Guadelupe Chapel. Highly Recommend!

Kathy is a local and knows her history! Started out walking toward the church and the cemetery as she briefed us on our tour Our safety was her concern first, She gave us lots of pertinent information on such a way that you could connect the dots easily It was packed full of useful knowledge and little tidbits of fun and trivia Bring a local she connected the history from the 1700ā€™s through today with. Personal Anne dotes and the history of the era in the United States. She was a Storyteller and brought the stories of voo doo, royalty , religion, suppression, local geography, and people connected to the area to life in our 2 hour tour. Yes, it rained cats and dogs and many of us got soaked no one complained and everyone stayed through the end of the tour. Kathy was authentic and knowledgeable! Good Job, Kathy

We go on tours with trepidation, but absolutely loved the cemetery tour with Ernie. He was entertaining and knowledgeable, and made the tour fun and educational. The cemetery is full of beauty and historical significance. Would recommend this to visitors wanting to get more info about the history of the area.
