What To Expect
1
Jackson Square
You’ll begin your tour in the most iconic spot in New Orleans, Jackson Square.
2
French Quarter
For our first stop, we will travel back to the 1700s and visit a bar that used to entertain some of the most eccentric characters in New Orleans history. Here, we will taste a famous drink of the city and learn how it has influenced New Orleans's drinking culture today.
3
French Quarter
In a town bearing witness to many hangovers and a place where it’s socially acceptable to drink at any time of day, it’s no surprise New Orleans has a wide range of delicious dessert-like cocktails. On this tour, we will visit one of your guide’s favorite bars and taste a drink so good you’ll forget there’s alcohol in it. Next up, we will sample the ‘official cocktail of New Orleans’: the Sazerac. One of the first cocktails ever invented, it’s definitely tasty enough to stand the test of time. We will also touch upon the topic of how medicine influenced Sazerac and other cocktails, too.
4
French Quarter
Also on this tour, we will taste another classic New Orleans invention, while exploring some of the oldest bars and restaurants in the French Quarter. We’ll also peek into some of the courtyard oases, stunning hidden features that make these buildings special, giving well-known customers a classy room to drink in, hidden away from plain sight. We will also visit one of the class establishments in New Orleans to try one of the city’s most esteemed drinks. You’ll learn why this drink is original and exclusive to New Orleans and can witness your expert bartender making it. After your first sip, you’ll truly understand why New Orleans has been called, “the cradle of civilized drinking.” To conclude the tour, your guide will be happy to suggest even more great local creations so you can continue your tour of the extensive New Orleans cocktail trail.

I never thought I'd do a cocktail tour since I'm not that much into cocktails. My wife and I decided to take the tour after taking a food tour from the same company hoping to learn about cocktails that are unique to New Orleans. Sophie was a delightful guide and really knows her stuff. While some of the cocktails were not to our liking, it was fun trying new things from unique venues, including traditional absinthe and exploring Antoine's, a very old restaurant.

My friend and I had the great pleasure of touring with Rene for our very intimate and very informative Cocktail Tour of the French Quarter. Rene was absolutely amazing. He led us through a journey of New Orleans history and the history of cocktail making in this great city. Along the way we sampled some of the best cocktails New Orleans has to offer. This tour was the highlight of my first trip to New Orleans. The quality and ability of your tour guide makes all the difference in the world on whether you get a great experience or not and Rene is the best. I highly recommend the History and Cocktails Small-Group Tour.

We met Sophie at Jackson Square and she was so easy to identify. She was also so excited to meet us. We were the only two for the tour that day, so it felt like a one of a kind event. As we walked to each of the places Sophie got to know us and tailored the history portion of the tour to us. It didn’t feel canned at all, but very spontaneous. Each of the bars felt like places mostly locals would frequent and yet we felt right at home. She even called ahead to one bar to make sure our drinks would be ready! Wow! And at the end she sent us recommendations on other places to try. I highly recommend this tour to any cocktail lover!
