What To Expect
1
Louis Armstrong Park
Our music tour of New Orleans begins just outside the French Quarter at the historic and beautiful Louis Armstrong Park in the Tremé neighborhood. Within the park, we will talk about the historical origins of jazz and discuss one of the jazz greats, Armstrong himself.
2
The Mahalia Jackson Theater of the Performing Arts
We will pass by the Mahalia Jackson Theater of the Performing Arts located in Louis Armstrong Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was named after gospel singer Mahalia Jackson, who was born in New Orleans.
3
Bourbon Street
Along one possible route, we’ll share the history of Bourbon Street and the residential and commercial places where blues and jazz collaborators came to make incredible music. We may even catch a busker performing at the historic French Market!
4
Frenchmen Street
Or your guide may chose to head to the famous Frenchmen Street, the largest concentration of live music venues in the city. Whatever path is taken, you’ll find yourself at a great Jazz/Music Spot, and your guide will take you inside to listen and enjoy the local scene.
5
French Quarter
Either way, by being with a local, you’ll learn all about the neighborhood, how to make the most of your time here, and the music culture and how it operates in the Clubs and venues. And to top it off, you will receive a drink on us at one of the stops and you’re very welcome to purchase additional beverages as and when you want them.
6
Preservation Hall
Passing by the historic music venue Preservation Hall in the French Quarter working to protect, preserve and perpetuate the spirit of traditional New Orleans jazz.
7
Congo Square
We’ll explore the area originally known as Congo Square – one of the first locations in the city where enslaved people and free people of color were allowed to gather and socialize. You’ll hear about jazz’s origins, resulting from a rich mix of cultures in a single city, which combined West African and Caribbean sounds with European musical influences – giving us this uniquely American artform.

This tour was hands down the highlight of my trip. Our tour guide Rene was absolutely amazing! Rene is very knowledge and personable, he really made our experience great. I went on the tour by myself and by the end our the tour it was like we all knew each other for years! Would recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting New Orleans and if you luckily have Rene as a tour guide, you are in for a pleasant evening.

Thanks to a great storyteller and our guide Kiazer, who made a great job telling the history of New Orleans, music and people. Well educated and easygoing person gave all his attention to every single guest answering on all possible questions and sharing great tips about New Orleans.

New Orleans Jazz Tour with Live Music and a Beer is one of the best tours that you can have in New Orleans and it gives you a great possibility to see another side of the city, beyond Bourbon street.

Interesting facts, sure, but not so committed guide. The big disappointment. was that we didn't go into a place where they played good jazz, because there weren't seats for everyone. There were 6 of us in the group including the guide. He could have asked if we could stand.. or pre-booked? The guide instead took us to another club where there was seating, but it was more like rock music. Not bad, but we all expected jazz. It would have been good if he pre-booked a table so we could get value for money. Most of the group went home before the tour ended. It would have made a difference if we had come to the right club.
