This tour is a combination of both a swamp tour and an airboat ride. Your tour guide will stop on your journey to allow for photos and alligator encounters! This airboat is a larger capacity vessel with the ability to seat up to 16 passengers. This is perfect for larger groups. The seating on your airboat is stadium style seating, so anyone seated in front of you will not be obstructing your view. Each airboat tour is unique and unscripted, you never know what's going to be waiting for your group behind the next turn. Airboats are driven by a 454 Chevy Engine, bringing speeds of your boat up to 25 miles an hour. Airboats are propelled by a large fan that blow air behind the vessel. On this tour, you will reach places and visit areas which normal boats and vehicles are unable to access.

Saved 10% by booking online with Tripshock! My voucher was texted to me AND emailed to me really fast. We chose to drive over to their location which took about 30 minutes from Downtown New Orleans. Plenty of signs to help guide you to their location along the way. Plenty of free parking too. They have a cute gift shop where you can buy drinks from and use the bathroom before/after your tour. The girls in the gift shop and in the booth are so professional and kind. I'm a beach girl, so typically freshwater is not my thing. They made me feel comfortable and didn't make fun of my million questions. Capt Ernie was our airboat tour guide and he was awesome! Very friendly and knowledgeable, answered every question anyone had! We had a blast and will for sure be back! Saw soooo many gators up close. Like it was incredible!

If you've not ever before been in the Louisiana swamps, then this is a good trip. I have spent a goodly amount of time in Louisiana swamps that were much more primitive than what is seen on this tour. However, the person I took on this tour, and the reason I gave it 4 stars, is visiting from the UK, and she thought it was great, as did, it seemed, everyone else on the boat. So, it's a matter of previous experience and perspective I was likely the only one somewhat bored.

The tour company seems to be A1 in service and helpfulness, and that's always a plus. In fact, I may even get a refund for my granddaughter who fell ill and didn't make the trip. According to the rules of cancellation, I'm not entitled to a refund, so the fact that they are considering it is admirable, in my opinion.

One caution: If you tour on a boat with Capitan Ernie, take what he says with a grain of salt, and if what he utters seems a bit silly, it probably is, so research it for yourself. As mentioned above I've had the pleasure and experience of spending time in my youth in the swamps of the Atchefalya basin. While most on our tour seemed quite attentive to what Capitan Ernie was saying, there was quite a bit that was just balderdash.

This tour is certainly well worth the price if you've not done it before, and I'm sure most will find it very enjoyable.

Don't forget your hat and/or sunscreen, or you'll find yourself with a burned forehead............like I did.
