Two weeks later, I am still reflecting on our recent tour for various reasons. Our guide, whose name I believe was Toe or Toad (he had to show us his ID to prove it), made quite an impression. The tour continued with him sharing a few tidbits while heavily criticizing Hollywood's portrayal of voodoo. At one point, we encountered another tour group led by a female guide, and the two exchanged profanities and insults. It was quite the spectacle. Toe had a habit of criticizing other tour groups and the general public. He even blocked traffic while glaring at cars, yet he yelled at us to 'watch out, stay off the street.' One lady in our group drew his ire when she took a hit from her vape, leading to a public shaming that shifted the group's mood. Shortly after, a couple left the tour, unbeknownst to him until the restroom break, at which point he harshly criticized them. Despite these incidents, Toe did provide some interesting historical information. However, he kept us close, limiting our opportunities for picture-taking, possibly fearing more people might try to sneak away. Not sure what I was looking for, but it wasn't this.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND ASK FOR TOAST!! Yes that’s his legal name.. My wife and I visited the French quarter this past weekend and we love to take tours everywhere we go. we had several tours booked prior to our visit, we had no idea how blessed we were to get Toast as our first guide. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. the passion he has for what he does really shows in his tours and it especially shows when you take tours with other guides. Other tours did not even compare to our tour with toast. Other guides shared wrong information, ended tours much earlier than they were supposed to and just didn’t have the same knowledge or enthusiasm as we saw in Toast. We were so pleased with him that we ended up cancelling other booked tours so we could go back with Toast for different tours as he does 10 different kinds of tours in the French quarter. He is a student of all kinds of history and is even in the process of writing a book about one of the cemeteries he took us to on a different tour with him (cemetery tour). His kindness and expertise did not stop at the tour, after it was over he chatted with us and gave us tips for the rest of our stay outside of touring. He showed us his favorite authentic shops (voodoo Authentica is a must see) , restaurants and sight seeing spots as well as what to watch out for as far as anyone trying to scam us (and to not get caught in the tourist traps).. I cannot wait to go back and this time everything we do will be with Toast!! Tip well because as you will see this guy really deserves it!!
