Tour unmissable shows in New York City’s world-renowned galleries! Delve into the world of contemporary art on a two-hour tour that will give you a real sense of what's current in art right now. Come on your own to meet new people, bring friends, family, or a date. Your guide has researched dozens of shows and will lead you on an engaging sequence of eight to ten galleries.
As you stroll and take in each show, you gain insight into artists' creative process, hear what artists have said about their own work, and engage your curiosity while getting to know new friends or old friends anew. Tours are highly interactive and freshly curated by Jody Lee Drafta, an artist, art writer, and university art professor. She combs through dozens of galleries, mixing long-established with newly minted spaces to track down the most unmissable work on view. What To Expect

Chelsea

Meet the other guests and your guide Jody in the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan, NYC. The galleries on the tour are within easy walking distance from each other, usually 10 blocks. The tour takes you from one show to the next, gathering briefly for a moment of introduction to the artist and their work before seeing the exhibit. As you take in the work, you will gain insight into artists' working processes, hear what they have said about their own art, ask questions and engage your curiosity. Gallery shows are installed and taken down every several weeks. Therefore we will visit different galleries depending on their exhibition schedules.

We spent a nice late morning with our guide, Jody. She was a very knowledgeable and well versed person with a gracious manner. She was accommodating for our pace and interest and added to our enjoyment of the galleries and artists that she led us to discover or with which she reacquainted us. She was able to communicate on an expert or a beginning enthusiast's level. Anyone with an interest in contemporary art would much enjoy time spent on this tour.

What a cool way to spend a Saturday afternoon! Jody is passionate about her subject and showed us galleries we never would have stumbled upon ourselves...or had the guts to walk into! Half of these places have entrances you'd walk right past but actually house amazing art behind their non-descript doorsWe stumbled upon one opening featuring a Voguing performance. Going as a group gave us guts you don't get when venturing solo. Interesting art and interested, new people. At the end she got us into a quiet courtyard of a buzzing hotel for cool down drinks. Bonus: I also met a new friend on the tour I've stayed in touch with.

I booked this tour for my Mum who is an art-lover and had always wanted to visit galleries in Chelsea. Jodi got in touch with me as soon as I booked to ask what we were most interested in seeing - which meant the tour was personalised to our taste.
