In planning our trip to NYC for our family (including 5 kids ranging from age 5 to 16 as well as grandparents), I knew I wanted a night bus tour for the night we arrived to really introduce the kids to the city. I was planning to book one of the double decker bus tours, as the kids would think that was great fun. I came across reviews for this USA Guided night bus tour and noticed that it stops at several places we probably weren't going to have time to get to otherwise like the High Line, and the reviews were just so good! After literally deliberating for weeks, I asked all the kids and we decided on this USA guided night tour. I had noticed that not many of the reviews mentioned kids, so I was worried it would be boring for them, but I finally made the choice and booked it.
To summarize, we saw many sights and experienced areas of the city we wouldn't have otherwise gotten to. Rachel, our tour guide, was lovely. She did an excellent job relating the fascinating stories of NYC, and note this, she also gave us plenty of advice that we used and were grateful for as this was our first family trip to NYC.
My older kids actually loved the whole tour. They thought it was fascinating and all wanted to write their own reviews of how great the experience was and how amazing Rachel was. They were the only kids on the bus. Also, after this tour they could all write essays on the concept of gentrification and how it affects cities. Our 5yo loved parts of the tour, and other parts he was asking to go home. In the end, he said he liked it, but this wouldn't be the easiest tour for families with many small children.
