We are Asian American NY locals (not Chinese). While familiar with Manhattan Chinatown had not been down to Flushing too much. Took our teen guys w us with no expectations and had a good time with Owen - who is from X'ian. He took us around to places he likes to eat, told us some backstory on the different Chinese regional foods available in Flushing and info on the different Chinese populations living in Flushing today. As was mentioned the food was plentiful, we brought a lot home, we learned some and definitely w Owen were able to order food we would not have tried on our own. Also showed us where we could shop. Would totally go back w him on a different menu to try other foods. Fun night out.

We did not know what to expect in this tour but it seemed like fun, so we gave it a shot. It was really a unique experience and opened our eyes. Most Americans think of Chinese food as maybe some beef broccoli, sweet and sour fried ____, or _____ fried rice. I did. So when we got the Chinatown Flushing I was open but apprehensive. So our tour started with a stop for some crepe like pancakes that were both crispy and soft. Absolutely delicious. Then we went to another place for some pork burgers that were created to fill the bellies of the warriors of the first empire. One bite and I was ready for more battle. Next thing I remember we are gorging on a big box of Taiwan fried chicken. Everyone ate all they could. Keep in mind this is all inclusive as far as food is concerned. Along the way, Owen takes care to explain the ingredients , methods, history of the food along with personal anecdotes. Itā€™s great being fed good food while being entertained by stories and good company. This one was a toss in tour that became a memorable event thanks to Owen. My view of Chinese cuisine has changed forever. It was never part of my food rotation before, just a fast fix from time to time. Thank you Owen for opening up a new cuisine that I truly now appreciate.
