My husband and I have been on this whale tour four times at two different times of the year and have not seen whales, we did see a few Pacific White Sided Dolphins back in March. On the other hand, my mom went once and saw multiple whales. If you don't see anything, it IS disappointing, but it's always a nice boat ride with great tour guides who are determined to find something for you. We have not paid full price once in all the four trips we've been on because we've gotten vouchers for not seeing anything. When we went this last time a pod of killer whales had just come through, the guides figure that that was why we didn't see anything, that those whales scared everything away. I would call before you go and see what they have been seeing and see what time of year they see the most marine life, I'm sure they would be more than happy to tell you.
