Overview

For ages 5 and up, this approx 90-min tour is an "overview" tour of scenic Newport.

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Age history and events that occurred over the centuries.

Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

The duration of this tour is 70-90 minutes, depending on traffic conditions
This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
The trolley is not handicapped accessible. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

We learned about the tour via an internet search ("Things to Do in Newport.") Yesterday, we called to book a last minute reservation on the 11:30am tour. The owner, Carlos Cardoso, took care of the process personally. He was so friendly and helpful in his explanation on how to find the Visitor's Center, and the tour. Our tour guide was engaging and funny. She shared helpful information for tourists (where to eat; best places to park), along with great detailed descriptions of the points of interest in Newport. Her presentation kept everyone's interest. The seats were comfortable, as was the temperature inside the trolley. This was a great experience for us from beginning to end, and we will take our out of town guests on this Tour again. Thank you, Newport Trolley Tour staff!

We took the 2:30 tour with Carlos from Brazil as the driver/guide. He was very knowledgeable about the area and history associated with each placed we passed He was attentive to those in the trolley and connected well with us. His accent was not a significant problem. His driving never made us feel afraid. He was in place early at the initial departure and again from the stop at The Breakers. It was a very hot day in August and the AC worked great in the trolley. I think you need to know a little more about the history of elite movie stars and some of the rich people from the area to get the most out of this tour, but that's not the fault of the tour company.
