Overview

For ages 5 and up, this approx 90-min tour is an "overview" tour of scenic Newport.

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Age history and events that occurred over the centuries.

Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

The duration of this tour is 70-90 minutes, depending on traffic conditions
This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
The trolley is not handicapped accessible. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

Poor customer service Unable to book a solo trip have to make a booking for two. Stupid or what, discriminates against solo travellers

Only solo travelers who demand that the seat next to them be kept empty are required to pay for that 2nd seat. Solo travelers are permitted as long as they allow someone else to sit next to them.

A good way to familiarise yourself with Newport. Narrative by the driver was at 120mph and aimed at the American audience, not that it mattered. We just took what we wanted from it.

I was very disappointed with this trolley tour. I've done a trolley tour in Newport on an earlier visit (I think it was a different company) that was so much better. I wondered why this guide sped through the streets on the the 1st part of the tour, but got my answer when we got over to the Eisenhower House. He said we were running 7 minutes early so we could take a break and get off the trolley and take pictures. He also rushed through the rest of the tour and didn't point out or talk about a lot of the sites. It was lucky for me that I had previously taken an informative tour in the past and remembered those stories. I felt bad for the other people who didn't know how much info they were missing. This guide rushed through so fast that we even got back about 10 minutes early. I do trolley rides wherever I go and this was the 1st time I had a bad experience. I'm hoping that this was just isolated to this guide and not the company.

Thank you for taking our 10am tour on 7/11/22. You failed to mention in the review the driver left the platform 7 minutes early because all passengers were on board. As a result, the trolley arrived in the area of the Eisenhower House 7 minutes ahead of schedule.The extra time allowed the driver to give everyone a photo opportunity and exit the trolley at the beautiful Bennington Overlook as a bonus. The trolley arrived at Bennington 25 minutes from the departure time and traveled 3.8 miles, making the average vehicle speed 9.1 miles per hour. We don't see how that's "speeding through the streets." The light traffic on that Monday morning was the reason the trolley was able to get back to the terminal 10 minutes ahead of schedule as well. The trolley left the terminal at 9:53am and returned at 11:20am, giving passengers an 87 minute tour instead of 90 minutes. We're sorry you felt short-changed over those 3 minutes.
