Overview

For ages 5 and up, this approx 90-min tour is an "overview" tour of scenic Newport.

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Age history and events that occurred over the centuries.

Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

Today's happenings are also thoroughly covered such as the best dining spots, boat tours, and other fun activities. Your tour guide will detail the best way to navigate this bustling city as well as explain the Cliff Walk attractions.

The duration of this tour is 70-90 minutes, depending on traffic conditions
This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
The trolley is not handicapped accessible. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

Excellent tour and guide/ funny/factual/ interesting. Trolley comfortable/we got off at The Breakers- toured for 1 1/2 hours then back on the trolley. Well worth it.

The worst experience I have ever had. Due to unforeseen traffic we arrived a minute before the departure time. My husband ran to tell the driver, I was coming. As I had knee surgery 3 months ago, it was taking me a little longer. The very rude driver said he couldn’t wait, call the office and took off. So my $77 were lost. I did text but was told the other trolleys were sold out. I have done this many times and have never need treated like this. I also called the office and received a call back from someone said I should have been there earlier, etc, etc. There was no customer service or offer to accommodate in any way. Will never recommend this excursion to anyone in the future.

You are not being truthful. You did not arrive 1 minute prior to departure. Your car arrived on America's Cup Ave at 11:34 as the trolley was pulling away. Your husband attempted to hold the trolley while you parked the car, which would have taken until at least 11:45. It's not fair to our RESPONSIBLE passengers who arrive on time to make them sit there waiting for a straggler for an extra 15 minutes. It is well documented in our writings prior to purchasing your ticket to account for traffic and construction and arrive 10 minutes PRIOR to departure. We have now changed that to 20 minutes. We further state in our writings that we do not hold the trolley for stragglers and there are no refunds for those who arrive late and miss the tour. These trolleys are required to be at the Breakers Mansion to pick up passengers from the previous tour in a timely manner. Waiting for stragglers at the bus departure platform will force those leaving the Breakers to stand at the curb for an extra 15 minutes and wait for a late trolley to pick them up.

Wonderful overview of Newport mansions and spectacular views. We did not have a lot of time so this tour was excellent for us. Great narration by our driver.
