Overview

For ages 5 and up, this approx 90-min tour is an "overview" tour of scenic Newport.

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Age history and events that occurred over the centuries.

Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

The duration of this tour is 70-90 minutes, depending on traffic conditions
This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
The trolley is not handicapped accessible. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

We chose just the guided tour and did not visit the mansions this time. Our tour guide Carlos was VERY good. We enjoyed him a lot. We found out so much about who lived in these mansions. For instance we did not know Judge Judy has a summer home here. Summer home - lol - mansion Seriously though, Carlos made the trip! Just a note on the bus itself, the seats are pretty narrow so if you are a large person there might be an issue if someone needs to sit next to you.

An excellent tour. Our guide Carlos kept up a steady description about what we were seeing, stopping long enough for us to actually see it, while talking about the history of Newport as we went from site to to site, all the while guiding the vehicle throughout the narrow roads of the area. Very professional and enjoyable. There are 2 similar tours, this one and one other. We chose this one after viewing photos of each trolley. Glad we did, as this was so comfortably outfitted compared to the other's trolley that we saw while waiting for ours. Both tours pick you up outside the info center on America's Cup Ave. Signs are at each location, one next to another, so it is rather easy to find what you are looking for.
