Overview

For ages 5 and up, this approx 90-min tour is an "overview" tour of scenic Newport.

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Age history and events that occurred over the centuries.

Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

Today's happenings are also thoroughly covered such as the best dining spots, boat tours, and other fun activities. Your tour guide will detail the best way to navigate this bustling city as well as explain the Cliff Walk attractions.

The duration of this tour is 70-90 minutes, depending on traffic conditions
This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
The trolley is not handicapped accessible. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

We got up earlier then expected and asked to be put on the earlier tour. The staff was very accomodating and said if there was room we would be let on. Thankfully there was. Our tour guide was very nice and well spoken. You see a lot of the town and historical buildings along the way as well as the harbor, ocean drive and of course the breakers. The only negative was our driver was a bit quick going by some places so it was hard to get a pic. It's also not easy to take a picture of sites on the other side of where you sit. But other than that a nice journey through Newport.

Did this tour as I had never been to Newport. It is a great way to get an overview of the place. The 90 minute tour is done in a very comfortable trolley ( really it is just a fancy minibus) with an excellent driver who combines information and humour very effectively. I did the first trip on a week day and it was full so I would advise booking ahead. The only disappointment for me was that they don’t stop to allow you to take photographs. Overall a very good experience.
