While in Newport RI, we took several excursions. This was my least favorite. 1) the tour guide was the third one on our visit and did not meet up to the standards of the other guides. She complained a lot about her health. She talked very fast and was difficult to hear at times due to us being on a street. The company should consider getting walking mic sets. 2) the choices of restaurants was eclectic. The food was edible, some was too spicy for my taste. At the Nitro, a coffee shop, an alternative to coffee should have been given. I tried to keep an open mind as I don’t drink coffee. I heard chocolate and cherry infused and thought..give it a try. I took a cautious sip and regretted it the rest of the walk. If you drink coffee, you might enjoy it. 3) We had taken 2 trolley tours for historic lessons, so when she began to kill time stopping at sites we had already seen and heard about, I just wanted to move on. I would have enjoyed it more spending more time relaxing at the restaurants and not feeling rushed to eat what little food I was given. Perhaps another restaurant or 2 could be added instead of the historic buildings. She also paused us near homeless folks that were making it less than appetizing on a foodie tour. She looked over at them but made no attempt to move us away from their disgusting noises. Very disappointed and probably won’t take a foodie tour for awhile. I was looking for delightful and delectable and this tour was not it. PS We found many wonderful Restaurants in Newport. Just not on this tour.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I'm sorry this tour did not meet up to your standards, we recognize that everyone has different ones and it isn't always possible to please everyone. Fortunately, this is rare as evidenced by our hundreds of positive reviews from our guests.
Food tours are meant to expose you to different neighborhoods or restaurants you may not otherwise find or try, with the hope you will expand your palette and might find a place you would like to go back to and try something else that you would prefer. We can't expect everyone to love everything.
We do add some history to break up the tour as we walk past landmarks in the neighborhood to keep it interesting for everyone, many who have not taken multiple tours while visiting, guests have often told us they did not expect it and were happy to learn something they didn't know.
Walking food tours are a breed of their own and there are many facets and logistics involved in them, which I do not expect guests to know but there are too many to go into here. As opposed to other tours that do not have food in them or tours that are in vehicles.
Because we are walking in a neighborhood in a city you will run into all kinds of people. Sadly yes, sometimes even homelessness, which is a problem in most cities in the country today.
It sounds like you would be more inclined to appreciate a private tour with a driver which could be more tailored around your preferences.
Thank you again for taking our tour.
