Our trip to the Big Island was two years in the making. I kept reading the number 1 thing to do was the Manta Ray night dive. I wasn’t sure I could do it. I have a fear of sharks and dark water. I kept telling my husband about it hoping he would talk me into it. I finally pulled the trigger and booked the activity knowing I could back out and sit on the boat while my husband did it.
I am so glad I went into the water. What a thrill. Best thing we did in Hawaii. Zach was very informative with information about the Rays and each one’s name. I think we saw 6 rays but they swam past us over and over again. You can’t touch them but they can touch you…and they do. It tickles. The Rays did barrel rolls.it was magical.
You can choose to wear a wet suit or not. If you go in winter, wear one…you aren’t swimming, you’re just floating with your feet resting on a pool noodle. Parking is along the sides of the road leading to the marina. Very friendly and informative staff.
