we had an amazing experience on our 12/17 trip!!! SO MANY MANTAS!! Every one in our group of three generations loved the trip, even my sister who had some hesitation at first — concerned about getting sea sick / getting into the ocean at night — had a blast, she had no issues. We highly recommend this experience!!!

I must say that this activity is a must for those traveling to Kona. It is a whole different experience seeing the manta rays up close. Simon and have the crew are really professional from beginning to end. They make the trip fun and entertaining. Most importantly they provide safety floatation devices (including life vest on boat). We saw a lot of manta rays that night. I chose the 6:30pm activity which usually starts with registration and introduction, then head to the middle of the ocean (close to the airport). Even if you choose this time it will be completely dark once you get to the middle of the ocean. From there they will anchor the boat and release the boards with the lights. Then people will start to swim towards the board. No need to worry as they will offer assistance when needed to get there. Then you just need to hold on to the board with both hands while your feet stays afloat with the noodles. You need to stay flat in the water. The experience can last for more than 30 minutes in the water but you are more than welcome to board the boat earlier if your hand gets tired. They also provide drinks and snacks on board which is cool. The tour lasts about 2 hours more or less. Overall this is a great experience and this company really rocks! I am hoping that all the other tour guides and operators will offer the same type of experience to everyone. My apologies in advance for the quality of my photos - just using my iphone with waterproof cover, underwater camera is definitely recommended. I am hoping that the company can maybe provide camera photos underwater and while on board for those who are not able to bring their own camera in the future. That would be perfect.
