This had to be the best excursion of our trip. To start, Paul was our guide. The guide is key to these excursions, and Paul was absolutely amazing. He displayed immense pride and passion for what he does. His knowledge, passion, information, and service were clearly on display. Paul arrived a few minutes early, and we began our trek to Murphy Dome. The ride was short, and Paul kept us engaged with tidbits on Fairbanks and the Aurora. Upon our arrival, we met Jeremy, our sledder for the evening. He was great as well. And he introduced us to the stars of the show, the dogs. They were all friendly and playful. We had a great interactive experience with them while Jeremy prepped the sled for departure. As we were leaving on the sled tour, the northern lights started to come out. It was great to be on the sled with the lights overhead. The dogs kept us moving at a brisk pace, and the ride was smooth. After an amazing sled tour through the woods, we arrived back at our yurt. Just as we said goodbye to the dogs, the Aurora exploded into a beautiful light show, one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. We knew it was good because the entire staff stopped to take it in with us. After the main event, we headed inside for a great dinner. Our chef was great. I have to apologize because I didn't get her name, but the food was top notch. Paul was attentive to our needs during the light show, personally making sure cameras were at the right setting and everyone had a chance to get a pic with the Aurora behind them. He even took Aurora pictures of his own while we were on the sled tour and shared them, so everybody had pictures. The entire team was very knowledgeable and professional. It made for an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend this tour.

Paul was an excellent guide. He and the rest of his crew made this trip feel like we were invited into the home of family who shared with us a fabulous meal and many stories of their experiences in Fairbanks. From the dog sled ride to the meal to the lights display this tour exceeded my expectations!

Our group of 14 had a wonderful time on our Dog Sledding/Dinner/Aurora Lights tour! We couldn't have asked for any better experience than the one we had. Josh, our main guide/driver, was right on time at both pick-up points for our group. He was entertaining, knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. We were driven to our private yurt, and given a brief introduction to the events of the night, to the yurt/facilities, and an introduction to Jo, the chef, Ash, the sous chef, and Jeremy, the lead musher. Next, we walked to where the Alaskan dogs and sleds were. There, we had a chance to meet, greet, and take photos with the dogs. Once the dogs were loaded, we were off! It was a fun and exciting 3 mile late night ride under the dark Alaskan sky and the Aurora Borealis! After returning from our dog sled ride, coffee/tea/hot cocoa/water and appetizers were waiting for us in the yurt! Chef Jo then began her magic in the kitchen. A delicious and perfectly pan fried Alaskan salmon was served along with rice pilaf and asparagus spears. Dessert of hot cherry pie followed. Throughout the night, we could enjoy the Aurora Borealis inside the yurt, outside the yurt, or alongside a fire pit with chairs. Some of us toasted marshmallows to make s'mores! We know we were fortunate to observe the Aurora lights at a high KP5 activity. We were also very fortunate to have met and been treated so well by Josh, Jeremey, Peggy, Tourson, Chef Jo, and Sous Chef Ash. All were professional, friendly, positive, dedicated, knowledgeable, and passionate with ensuring we had a good time. Additional shout outs go to Chelsea and Rebecca who worked out all the logistics for our tour. All 14 of us created memories of a lifetime with 1st Alaska Tour!
