We booked our tickets 6 weeks before leaving the UK so we couldn't predicted the weather, which unfortunately was very cloudy. We were offered to change our tickets to another day but we couldn't due to our flight schedule. We continued with the trip up the tower, knowing it would be cloudy but hoping there could be a break in the cloud once at the top.
We thought we should take in the photo opportunity so at least we had a memory of the experience (due to the weather). We collected our photos which were bagged for us, and of course we just packed those when we got back to the hotel. Little did we expect for the image to be wrong! The overlay they used was infact taken from the Rockefella Centre and not The Observatory. Upon my return I emailed a complaint and asked if there was a chance for this to he rectified using the QR I still had, but unfortunately it couldn't be retrieved. I was told they had recently update their photos for the experience and the wrong ones had been uploaded! I have asked for a photo of the view that should have been used to be emailed so we have something to keep, but I am waiting for this to be agreed and sorted.
The experience up to the viewing deck was smooth, a visual effects window in the lift, which takes 47 secs to climb 104 floors. The building was clean and presentable. We had a coffee at the top (hoping for the cloud to clear), this was very expensive and the barista got my order wrong, and then basically made out I lied when I asked her to change the drink. When you pay that much for a coffee you want it done correctly!! When does a decaff latte sound like a black coffee?!
It is worth the visit, but if something needs addressing the process doesn't seem very easy.
