What To Expect
1
Harlem
Get what you want out of your experience - try globally influenced flavors as you sample some of Harlem's classic soul food dishes
2
Brooklyn Bridge
You could walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, maybe at night? Let us paint the picture- the moon overhead, stars reflected in the East River below- truly magical.
3
Bronx Museum of the Arts
Catch an exhibition or live jazz act at the Bronx Museum of the Arts- if you feel super cultured
4
Brooklyn
Microbreweries, prohibition brew houses and NY pizza (enough said).
5
Williamsburg
Roam around this hip(ster) spot, seeing what there is to see, eating what there is to eat and shopping what there is to shop. Head’s up, there’s a lot of all of the above. Spot vivid street art, sift through thrift stores, pop into impossibly cool boutiques, muse over contemporary art in a small gallery, peruse the local flea market or just kick it on a barge overlooking the Manhattan skyline.
6
Greenwich Village
If you’ve ever wondered what New York tastes like, you’ll find out on in Greenwich Village. You’ll could on the dishes that are close to every New Yorker’s heart, from warm-from-the-oven choc’ chip cookies to creamy New York cheesecake, to Sicilian-style arancini - decadent bites of fried rice stuffed with dreamy combos like Bolognese sauce and melted cheese. Snack in a classic ‘mom and pop’ shops as you hear about the Italian immigrants who brought their incredible food culture with them, indulge in a freshly filled cannoli and float away into New York food heaven as you bite into classics like bagels with lox or a door-stopper sized pastrami sandwich.
7
Grand Central Terminal
You’ll see the iconic skyscrapers and landmarks - hello Grand Central - but the twist is, it will be through the eyes of your host. They can’t wait to share with you what they love about the area, where they hang out, and what’s good to eat and drink.
8
Midtown
From Times Square to Rockefeller to the Empire State, there are more New York landmarks here per square metre than anywhere else in the city (probably, we haven’t had this fact independently verified…) and your host can’t wait to show them to you! NOTE: Entrance fees are not included and we recommend that you visit the interior of these attractions autonomously.
9
Meatpacking District
Dimly lit cocktail bars, gallery openings, flagship designer stores and ultra-cool restaurants. Whether your idea of a good time is more trendy and high-end designer shopping followed by a cocktail, dinner at the latest restaurant opening followed an evening musing over contemporary art, or bar hopping between sleek wine bars and dimly-lit cocktail joints, you’ll find it all here.
10
SoHo
Enjoy the famous Soho and its hidden gems just around the corner from iconic attractions, and wander its historic streets
11
Little Italy
We would recommend perusing the delis in Little Italy though, which have been in the same families for generations and trying a cannoli or two, then paying homage to NY’s very first pizzeria (by eating a slice, obviously).

Mei was the best host we could have asked for! We were a group of 6 native New Yorkers and we learned so much! I had even lived a few blocks from our meetup point in Greenwich Village, but Mei was able to show us tons of art, cool locations, and food that I had never seen or tried before. We will definitely be booking a tour with Mei again!

Hi Trs323 Wonderful to hear you had such a good experience with Mei in New York. We want to make sure our hosts are passionate about their cities, so them sharing their knowledge will make the time fly by! You clearly got to see a side of Greenwich you never knew was there which is lovely to hear, Hopefully you decide to join us again during your future travels. We’d love to find you another host in one of our 06+ cities or assign you with Mei again! Kind regards Liezel

With things returning to life after 2020, it was difficult to find a guided food tour. Luckily, I found this one and they were happy to accommodate me. I knew going into this, that it's probably going to be a bit different with shops and restaurants opening back up, so I kept an open mind. Maurita was extremely helpful with planning since I really had no idea what was available. We went to 2 pizzerias and 2 breweries. Some people like to run through as many as possible, but since it was just the two of us and we were having a great time, I definitely didn't want to rush through anything. The two pizzerias included Vinnie's and Screamer's. The two breweries included Brooklyn Brewing and Keg And Lantern. All of which were unique and showcased two very different sides of their respective craft. Keep in mind, I was a solo traveller and your experience may vary. This is a walking beer and pizza tour, not a history of Brooklyn tour. You're sharing a food and drinking experience with a local resident. You will have a good time because beer and pizza make things better. I'm defiantly looking forward to another return to the area and I will defiantly take this tour again. I would highly recommend it.

Dear Useless Thank you for the lovely review. I am glad Maurita was able to let you experience beer and pizza the Brooklyn way and helping you enjoy some local hospitality after 2020. Hopefully we can host you again soon in New York, or perhaps one of our other 60+ destinations. Kind regards Liezel
