What To Expect

Great River Road

Meet at the departure point at 9:30 am. Then, travel to and fro along the Great River Road in a climate controlled mini bus with air suspension for a comfortable ride.

Laura: Louisiana's Creole Heritage Site

Laura, A Creole Plantation has a rich and unique history, from the home itself to the women that ran it. Uniquely enough, the plantation is now named after one of those very women. You will get to tour this over 200 year old sugarcane plantation. This tour will include a walk through of the main house as well as the slave quarters.

Oak Alley Plantation

Oak Alley is an antebellum plantation known for its stunning 300 year old alley of oak trees. This plantation was built in 1839 and faces the Mississippi river. These unique tree formations and the beautiful grounds in combination with the colorful history make this a must see destination while you are in New Orleans. After both locations have been visited you will be dropped off back in downtown New Orleans locations.

Rather disappointed with my "Oak Alley and Laura Plantation Tour". The booking stated an approximate visit time of 8h, whereas the tour operator was operating on a very tight schedule not communicated to us in advance. As a result I felt constantly rushed and unable to learn enough about the exhibits. On the last visit the bus driver rudely pulled me out of an ongoing guided tour so they could return. In the end the tour lasted only 6 instead of 8 hours.

My husband and I really enjoyed this trip!! Karen was our bus driver- very knowledgeable on area, restaurant recommendations etc. we liked the Laura plantation best. Local guide Pam recreated the total scene of a working plantation, made history come to life for both the owners and the enslaved. Oak Hill beautiful place, toured house and recreated cabins. Only area to improve- when I booked this tour only 1 option for bus pickup which was far from our hotel. Karen did then pick up a group only few blocks from our hotel after getting us at designated stop. She was so kind to drop us off close to our hotel. Great way to spend day!!

Karen was our bus driver, had an hour drive to first plantation. She was a wealth of information on New Orleans - the city, restaurants etc. We enjoyed Laura plantation the most. Pam, the local guide, was so interesting, totally recreated the life and times of plantation life for both the owners and the enslaved. Only thing I would recommend would be to offer different pickup locations- we stayed never but pickup was over a mile away. Our bus driver did pickup other people closer to our hotel but this was not an option when I booked. Would definitely recommend this tour,
