This is a fantastic tour! Not only was the driver/tour moderator highly informative, but the docent at the Oak Alley Plantation was wonderful! She helped to bring the history of Oak Alley alive with her knowledge and insightful stories of the families who had once lived there. This was an awesome tour!
The bus ride to the plantation was filled with a monologue by a very knowledgeable driver/tour guide. We learned so much about the history of Louisiana, New Orleans, the plantations, the crops, the wildlife, and even recommendations for restaurants and other sights to see back at NOLA. The plantation tour was very nice, and the grounds were lovely. It was a leisurely visit, not rushed. We got to sit and drink some mint julips while taking in the beautiful view epitomized by the picture to the left. The woman guide at the home was intelligent, able to answer all kinds of questions about the history of plantations, the biographies of the owners and their families and the history of the sugar cane growing industry. Highly recommended.
Our tour to Oak Alley Plantations was such a beautiful place. We had a guide/coach driver that told the history all the way to the plantation. We had 2 hours at the plantation. With an inside tour of the house showing all the different people who had owned the plantation over the years. A young guide told us everything. Outside you could wonder through the oak trees. My husband found the motor museum with there cars they had at the time. There was a cafe where you could get light snacks or ice cream. Also a gift shop. We were then taken back into New Orleans telling us the history of the area on the way.
