This was the last of five tours in three for my group. I really enjoyed the comfortable ride in the motor coach. The driver described some points of interest along the way and gave some history about the sugar and cotton industry. The plantation was beautiful and the guided tour was nice. It was sad to think about the role the slaves played. All that beauty build on the backs of the slaves. Very little was mentioned about that in this tour, however they are in the process of building replicas of the cabins the slaves lived in.
Tour of the Plantation was above average, presented well, organized, informative - highly advise taking it - Rating for the Tour Operator = 4 Stars -- HOWEVER, Tour bus was 20mins late leaving New Orleans while waiting on ONE late arriving passenger, who had been late for a previously scheduled tour. A bus of approx 40 people waited on one person based on the decision of Mgr Bren. HIGHLY UNACCEPTABLE when other people on the bus had later obligations that shortened the Tour. Shame on Tour Bus Mgr Brent for allowing "a dime to hold up a dollar!" Rating for Mgmt - ZERO STARS (but, bus driver Mike did his best in light of Brent's poor decision).
The highlight of this tour was the very beautiful grounds and landscaping. The tour of the big house itself was not what I expected. I expected more. Our bus driver was very nice and informative.
