What To Expect
1
Yards Brewing Company
This is a sample itinerary. All schedules are subject to change. Founded upon humble beginnings in 1995 in a 900-square foot facility in Manayunk, Yards Brewing Company has grown into one of the area’s most prolific breweries, churning out some of the most popular and widely distributed beers in Philly. Since it’s inception, Yards Brewing Company has relocated three times and now proudly overlooks the Delaware River in Penn’s Landing. Their nod toward English ales is deeply rooted in history and blends colonial traditions with modern day flavors to produce beers fit for the founding fathers. A must-stop for learning about the progression of colonial beer as you sip presidential flights in a rich, historic city.
2
Double Nickel Brewing Co
Unlike many of the local Philadelphia area breweries, steeped in rich traditions that span decades, Double Nickel is the result of Head Brewer and Co-Founder, Drew Perry’s, hard work and commitment to the crafts. Drew has been brewing beer his whole professional life, working his way from the packaging line to head brewer. At his most recent gig, Drew led recipe development and contract brewing for a Virginia-based operation that produced beer for dozens of other microbreweries. But the dream was always the same: to return to New Jersey and start his own brewery. After tireless hours brewing and carefully cultivating flavors, he made that dream a reality when he transformed a defunct fitness and spa center into 22,000 square feet of beer producing behemoth. In only a short time, Double Nickel is already well on its way to becoming a major contender in the Philly/South Jersey craft beer scene.
3
Flying Fish Brewing Company
This award-winning brewery is the largest producer in South Jersey. Just a stone’s throw away from Old City Philadelphia and the Liberty Bell, it’s a must-visit for any thirsty beer enthusiast in the Philly area. And here’s a fun fact: Flying Fish was the FIRST virtual brewery back in 1995 (yes, the 90s!) with its very own website, making it a true pioneer in the beer space. The key words when describing Flying Fish beers are “balance” and “sustainability”. Their beers are full-flavored yet highly drinkable, and they’re still innovating to this day with their brand new canning and bottling operation, where our guides will walk you through the brewing process from ingredients to your glass. Join us on a behind the scenes look at this state of the art brewery complex that’s crafting some the most sustainable beer in the nation!
4
Love City Brewing
With a mission to create unfailingly delicious beer that is the centerpiece of Philadelphia’s table, Love City Brewing Co is a must visit in Philly. With it’s exposed brick, spacious industrial feels, Love City opened it’s beautiful wood paneled doors in 2018. Housed in what was once a defunct railroad manufacturer and more recently an mixed martial arts gym, Love City is producing accessible beers like Eraserhood (NE IPA) or their Love City Lager in retro tall boy cans that pleases even the non-craft beer drinker. Learn all about how Love City craft’s these delicious brews as we give you behind the scenes access to one of Philadelphia’s newest breweries.

I highly recommend a City Brew Tour for anyone that loves beer and/or history. They have tours in several cities (and growing). They are affordable and this particular tour was the highlight of our trip to Philadelphia. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. He taught us about the history of beer, the brewing process, and facilitated new friendships amongst the other tour attendee’s. The breweries we attended were awesome (especially Eclipse Brewing) and we had more than our fill of great beers and excellent food (Roy Pitz has the best fried chicken sandwich). My wife is not an avid beer drinker and she thoroughly enjoyed the tour as well. There is something for everyone at City Brew Tours.

What a fun day! We sampled a lot of beer!! Our guide, Dan, was fun, knowledgeable and accommodating. I loved the variety of breweries that we visited and the variety of beers that we tried. It was a little odd that we went to NJ since there are so many great breweries in Philadelphia, but I did enjoy all the breweries that we visited. There was a lot of beer included in the tour and the lunch (ours was at Brauhaus Schmitz, a German beer hall) was excellent! Good group of people on the tour and we all felt like friends by the end of the day (that might have been related to all the beer!). It would have been helpful to know ahead of time which breweries we would be visiting on the tour (we were in Philadelphia a couple of days before our scheduled tour, and we wanted to visit breweries that we would not be visiting on the tour). According to the confirmation email, this would be posted, but it was not. I would definitely do this tour again, both in Philadelphia and in other cities.

Thanks for the awesome review, and your kind words about the tour! I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time with Dan, and hearing that you formed a community with the other members of your tour. We do aim to send out our tour itineraries about 36-48 hours ahead of the tour date, and I apologize if that didn't reach you. I hope that you got a good sense of all that Philly's beer scene has to offer, both on the tour and on your own. Next time you book, please take advantage of our loyalty program to receive a discount on your second tour. We look forward to seeing you then. Cheers!
