My husband and I are huge fans of the Katmai Coastal Brown Bears, so when we learned we'd be in Juneau for a week, we immediately researched bear viewing opportunities nearby. We are so glad we booked with Wild Coast Excursions. Peter was a wonderful guide in every regard--knowledgeable, prepared, and really committed to ensuring we had a great experience. I read a number of internet comments saying a guide wasn't necessary for this trip, but I couldn't imagine doing this trip without Peter as our guide, not just from a bear safety standpoint, but also for provisioning. Wild Coast precured the necessary permits, booked the float plane through the most reliable and safest company in Juneau (Ward Air), and provided us with waterproof boots, rucksacks, and rubber pants, which were an absolute must due to the float plane landing. He also had bear spray and a satellite phone for contacting Ward Air. We learned a lot about the bears from him during our time on the island and were very excited to see these bears in person and from a safe but relatively short distance. We would absolutely book this trip again. Five stars!
