Pet the Pups 7-hour Scenic Journey to the Yukon and Dogsledding Camp

Overview

Pet the Pups with Michelle Phillips and husband Ed Hopkins as they share their 50 years of combined mushing knowledge! At their dog mushing camp we will learn about the incredible sport of winter competitive mushing, the endurance and grit and bond required by both the dog team and their human to race through the wilderness in sometimes below freezing temperatures.
We will also pet the adorable future racing pups! You’ll receive a signed copy of Michelle Phillips book, some dog booties, a dog tag, and sponsorship of a sled dog. You may also book a thrilling 15 minute dog cart ride on a sturdy UTV (side by side), pulled by their racing dog team for an additional charge. If you would like to book a Dogcart ride, please contact us.
After petting the pups, your journey isn't over! You will travel all the way up to Emerald Lake, stopping to take in many different scenic points, with your private tour guide.

What To Expect

Emerald Lake

Guests will stop to see the beauty of Emerald Lake, while also learning about what gives the lake, it's emerald hue.

Carcross

Our lunch stop on the tour, enjoy one of the local eateries (not included in price), take a stroll to see the historic town, or do some shopping at the local shops.

Carcross Desert

Take your shoes off and enjoy the feel of sand between your toes, take a photo, or make some sand angels in the Carcross Desert. Learn how this dune has been formed over thousands of years.

Had the absolute BEST time with Trevor exploring Skagway, Yukon border and Carcass and at the Dogsledding camp. We had 10 attend ranging from age 6 to 48 and this was our favorite event of our Alaska cruise. Skagway is beautiful and we stopped at several sites to take in the beauty. We learned a lot about the area from our extremely knowledgeable and personable guide. Our dog sledding experience was a blast and we had a great time with the dogs and the adorable puppies. Everyone was super friendly at camp as well. Recommend this event with Beyond Skagway Tours for everyone!

This was the second time we chose Beyond Skagway as our excursion while in Skagway. We were able to do a lot of things during our 7 hour tour. We were traveling with our Son, Daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters ages 9 and 7. Our tour guide Trevor was very informative and provided a memorable trip for all of us. We stopped at the suspension bridge and our son and daughter-in-law decided to cross over it. The highlight was the cart ride pulled by Michelle Phillips Iditarod team and getting to pet the puppies. We learned a lot about the sport of mushing. The girls also got to pan for gold and did a scavenger hunt. We highly recommend this tour company to anyone visiting Skagway.

We had an amazing day! Our tour guide, , was knowledgeable and very accommodating. We saw several black bears and one really put on a show. Emerald Lake was beautiful, the sled dog puppies were adorable and Carcross Desert was very unexpected. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend Beyond Skagway Tours to anyone visiting Skagway.
