The Phantom of the Opera
Based on the classic novel by Gaston Leroux, The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents, employing all of the devious methods at his command. The longest-running show currently playing on Broadway, The Phantom of the Opera became the longest-running show in Broadway history on January 6, 2006 when it played its 7,486th performance, surpassing previous record-run of Cats. It has been dazzling audiences since its debut on Broadway in 1988 where it swept the Tonys winning awards for Best Musical, Best Director, Leading Actor in Musical, Featured Actress in a Musical and more. It is a Broadway institution not to be missed.

An amazing show and cast, so happy I was able to see it before it closed. Such a classic. Seats in the majestic are comfortable enough. If you have the chance to go you should take it. Multiple people left in tears over the emotional performances. The drinks are horribly overpriced but it’s to be expected for a broadway show, and of course they are not necessary to enjoy the experience.

Wow! Fabulous performance by all. This was my daughter's dream. She has loved the Phantom since she first heard the music, then saw the movie, and read the book. Everything about the show was wonderful. The only negative part was the tiny little seats in the mezzanine. As larger people, we were so squeezed into the seats that it caused bruises on my daughter's thigh. And my knees were buried into the seat in front of me. I know the theater is old (1927) and it is also beautiful. Overall I wouldn't have missed it.
