My college aged daughter and her friend and i were headed up to the Grand Canyon at sunrise and passed by north Phoenix and saw all these hot air balloons going up and knew we just had to do that while in AZ- bucket list you know! My daughter did some research and found the prices were all pretty similar, however Rainbow Riders was listed as #1 on Trip Advisor, had a 100% safety record and had the most reviews all positive (except one- someone complained about the coffee- really?). WE made a phone call and booked online for the next morning. We made our way up from Gilbert and had to be at their warehouse by 5:30 am. The warehouse was immaculate and looked very professional.WE were given Andy as our pilot and took a van and headed 16 miles into the dessert. 12 people were in our basket, not crowded at all. The ride was beautiful, and smooth and if you are nervous- don't be - It was amazing. The balloon doesn't even sway. They don't go up if the wind is over 10mph - that's why they have a 100% safety record. Andy answered all of our questions and made us feel very comfortable. We were up for over an hour. Andy pointed out the different mountains and locations around the area; lakes etc.Book Andy if you can, he made our trip!!!!!!! (Andy learned this craft from his dad, so he has been doing this for many many years- you can tell this is his passion!!!!) When we landed we held hands and said a prayer (tradition) and then they passed out mimosas- are you kidding me!!! Champagne and orange juice made us feel so special. That's also a tradition. WE took lots of pictures both in the air and on the ground. After the workers folded the balloon back up we headed back to the warehouse to pay. (you pay after the ride) where we were treated to breakfast; coffee, more mimosas, muffins, warm bagels, yogurt and fruit. This organization is first class!!! I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. They are professional and made our trip a ride of a lifetime! Rainbow Riders and Andy- you rock!!!!!!

What a great experience. The staff at rainbow riders were super organized for all aspects of the experience. When we got to the launch site, there was already another company at the site with 3 balloons, but all of the balloons for Rainbow Ryders were in up and in the air before the last one of the 3 that had started before we even arrived. Our pilot, Jesse, was super friendly and explained all the details as we floated over the dessert scenery. I had not anticipated how many balloons would be in the air at the same time, and that too added to the beauty of the experience. I think we had 6 balloons from Rainbow, plus the 3 that were launched in a similar place and then as we were in the air, another 5-6 came up on the other side of a mountain range. It was just so cool to see all of them drifting along at different altitudes. When we landed, Jesse set the basket down within a very short distance of the chase van and our ground support crew jumped out, grabbed a couple ropes and started collapsing the balloon as Jesse explained how they dump the hot air out the top. While the ground crew continued working, a table was set up for Mimosas and we chatted with the other passengers while the clean up continued. The whole crew made this a super seamless experience. If I had to guess, they had everything wrapped up in 10-15 minutes and with the distraction of the conversation and the mimosa, you did not even notice. Then we headed back to the meeting point for a light breakfast and more Champagne if you wanted it. The balloon ride was bucket list worthy, the rest of the experience was just icing on the cake. We were picked up at our hotel then taken to their new offices where we checked in. Then loaded into van to our launch site. It was fun to watch the balloons inflate. Scott was our pilot and was great. There is no sense of motion so one minute you’re on the ground and the next you are 500 ft up! We went up 5000 ft. We flew for an hour then back to the office for breakfast. A must do for everyone!
