  • CLOTHING: Consider bringing a few small props or special clothing to add character to your photos. Since daytime temperatures on Oahu are (almost) never below 70 degrees F, warm clothes are not needed. Shorts and short sleeves are usually most comfortable. Having a long sleeve shirt and light windbreaker is a good idea to provide a little warmth as well as wind, mosquito, and sun protection if needed. Please do not bring heavy coats or bulky clothes. RECOMMENDED CLOTHING: Shorts and short sleeves, Good walking shoes or strap-on sandals with sturdy soles, Sunglasses, Sun hat, Extra lightweight long-sleeve shirt (sun & mosquitos), A light windbreaker or poncho (in case of rain). NOT RECOMMENDED: Flip-flops, Heavy boots, Bulky coats or other clothes. FOOTWEAR: Good walking shoes or strap-on sandals with sturdy soles are essential. We’ll be on the beach at times, so footwear that is easily removed or waterproof is recommended. We will not be doing long hikes, so heavy hiking boots are not recommended. However, we will be walking over sharp lava at some locations, so be sure your footwear has a substantial sole. File-flops are NOT adequate on sharp lava and can lead to dangerous situations. SUN PROTECTION: Hawaii’s sun can be brutal, especially if you have fair skin. Sunglasses and sunscreen are essential. Also, a hat and an extra, lightweight long-sleeve garment are recommended. Long pants are okay but can be hot. RAIN GEAR: It rains often in Hawaii, especially on the lush windward coast. Fortunately, the rain is not cold. Rain can produce some wonderful conditions for photos. Cameras, however, do not like water, water protection for any camera gear is recommended. We have umbrellas available but bring a compact poncho or other waterproof cover-up. WEATHER NOTE: Oahu is a tropical Hawaiian island surrounded by water. Consequently, the weather in Hawaii changes rapidly, and it can rain multiple times in a single day, especially on the windward coast. The result is beautiful jungles and rain forests. We recommend that you be prepared for rain with appropriate clothing. We DO NOT cancel tours because of weather unless a full-blown Kona storm or torrential rain showers are predicted.

Fantastic day with Doug, we both enjoyed the day. We actually had booked a private photo tour and got to see parts of the island we would never had of visited as we did not know about them and only had limited time there. Doug's knowledge was wide ranging and his encouragement to take photos that we would normally not think off was liberating. Thanks
