Overview

Our tour includes viewing hundreds of rare and antique cars, motorcycles and tractors, as well as an authentic Prairie Town that transports visitors back to the 1900's. Pioneer Auto Show has been featured on American Pickers, and is a must-stop destination for those traveling through South Dakota to visit Mount Rushmore or the other many large attractions. We also feature a gift shop, where we sell collectibles, gifts, apparel, local products, souvenirs and much more. A dining option is featured on-site, serving burgers and Midwest comfort food.

Pioneer Auto Museum

Browse over 275 classic and rare cars, 60 tractors, 60 motorcycles and tons of memorabilia and antiques! We also feature a Prairie Town that lets visitors get a real look at life in the early 1900's, complete with schoolhouse, general store, railroad depot and much more!

Manage your expectations - This is definitely an unusual museum. There are 42 buildings on the property housing a vast array of antiques and memorabilia. However, be warned - nearly everything you will see is barn finds, field finds, peoples attics and donations. This is NOT a collection of museum quality items. Most everything is dusty, cars have flat tires, etc. It is, however, an eclectic collection of cars, farm equipment and old buildings found somewhere on the prairie. It is definitely a fascinating place to visit and we would recommend it.

Are you (our your SO) an American Pickers fan, biker or a die-hard gear-head? If so, you will LOVE Pioneer Auto Museum. Way more than we expected We spent the afternoon oooh-ing and aaah-ing over everything we looked at on the property. The old Murdo jail, a one room schoolhouse, there is so much more here than cars! Had a lovely chat with the gentleman running the gift shop about all things automotive and historical. Highly recommend.

My husband & I both love old cars.. and does this place have tons of them!! There are like 40 buildings full of classic cars and wonderfully curated exhibits full of information. It was a great way to spend a couple hours! Will definitely be back next time I’m in SD. You don’t want to miss this! Also...the owners were so kind and the gift shop was awesome too!
