Overview

Learning to surf with Sandbar Surf School is a lifetime bucket list thing that you will never forget. We are the premier surf school in California's Central Coast and we have been teaching surf lessons here in Pismo Beach since 1996. We have tons of local surf knowledge as well as many of our instructors are world travelers/surfers. We truly love what we do and you will have the best time in the world going with us. Laugh with us, surf with us and maybe even come to one of our bonfires! We would not only love to meet you from wherever in the world you are from, but we promise that your surf experience with us will be the part of the trip that you can't stop talking about in the days to come.

My husband and two kids (ages 12 girl and 15 boy) took a two hour lesson with Elisa...not sure about the spelling :). She was a super instructor! Both kids loved her enthusiasm and upbeat personality! She was so encouraging and helpful. My husband credits her for getting our daughter in the water. She had her mind made up it was too cold and she was not going to do it. Not sure what magic words Elisa spoke in her ear but she quickly turned the early morning lesson into a success and our daughter was riding the waves for the full two hours. Heidi was also very helpful and informative on the phone. A great operation overall. Would definitely recommend!

Heidi was my instructor and she was absolutely wonderful. I only booked the class the evening before but she was very accommodating. I had a solo, two hour class in the morning, for an extremely low price given the quality of it. She knew just how much to push me and was very sincere and encouraging the whole time. The waves at Pismo were perfect for both beginners and more advanced surfers, and the beach itself has a wonderful vibe, along with not being over-crowded, the way some other good surfing beaches are. I was expecting to be cold but the wet suit kept me warm the whole way through. If you get the chance, definitely check out Sandbar Surf!

Heidi is a wonderful instructor, incredibly nice and helpful. My friends and I took a group lesson with her and she was able to spend quality time with each of us and help us stand up on day one. It was so much fun and such a good experience. We have gone back to her a couple times to rent and she usually ends up hanging out and surfing with us if she doesnt have other clients. If you want to learn to surf, I highly recommend Sandbar Surf!!
