Overview

Learning to surf with Sandbar Surf School is a lifetime bucket list thing that you will never forget. We are the premier surf school in California's Central Coast and we have been teaching surf lessons here in Pismo Beach since 1996. We have tons of local surf knowledge as well as many of our instructors are world travelers/surfers. We truly love what we do and you will have the best time in the world going with us. Laugh with us, surf with us and maybe even come to one of our bonfires! We would not only love to meet you from wherever in the world you are from, but we promise that your surf experience with us will be the part of the trip that you can't stop talking about in the days to come.

My dad and I signed up for surf lessons with Sandbar pretty last-minute. I talked to Johnny over the phone and he was very friendly & excited to get us into lessons. The morning of the lessons they had us in the water within 30 minutes and our instructor, Heidi, had us on our boards about 15 minutes later. Once we were comfortable enough, she went and got her own board to surf with us. A school of dolphins even came close to us! Johnny was on the beach taking pictures. Next time we visit Pismo Beach we will certainly be calling these guys for rentals. There was literally nothing to complain about... totally perfect! Two days later I was walking along the pier and I saw Heidi come out of the water from a surf session. We ended up standing around and chatting for close to an hour. This just goes to show how awesome these guys are!!! Those small things are what makes a big difference to me. Thanks Sandbar Surf!

Followed a beginners course in surfing with sandbar surf: excellent experience! We reserved only one day in advance which was no problem (perhaps due to period). Very good teacher learning the basics of surfing with good focus on detail and with lots of enthousiasm! Very good service: I highly recommend sandbar surf!

I was searching the internet for places to take surf lessons and this was not the first one to come up, but I looked into it a bit more and I am so glad I picked them. The price was right at $60 for a 2 hour lesson and the groups are only 10 people max. With 2 instructors in the water with you, it felt like a one on one lesson with out the price tag. As well, they were great with all the extras with no extra cost. The wet suit was included, snack part way through and the photos they took were posted on face book, so no extra fee for that.... who does that? I had to pay $30 for the CD in Hawaii and I didn't want more than about 5 photos. The attention to detail was fantastic, from the stretch in the beginning and the body surfing to get us ready and the fun photos at the end. I loved it so much I booked for the second lesson as soon as I was done the first one. These guys are great and I hope everyone uses them... thanks to all the instructors both days and the support you gave me. Kids from ages 6 to... well I'm not telling you my age, but us old people loved it and had a lot of fun.
