We had a catered lunch with a take on pilgrim foods along with an explanation of the dishes and how they would have varied from the time of the pilgrims, followed by a brief introduction to the plantation. When you walk around the plantation you interact with characters that are not generic pilgrim re-enactors, but re-enactors of a particular person who lived in the plantation doing what they would have done on that particular day. History is preserved down to the wedding announcement we saw nailed to the wall in the meeting house. Prepare for some walking. for those with limited mobility, you can get a ride to the top of the planation / meeting house and also get a pickup lower in the planation.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit to Plimoth. The themed-dining experience you referred to is Eat Like a Pilgrim, one of my favorites and offered to groups. With so many of our visitors wanting to have a taste of history after seeing and smelling cultural food cooked at the exhibits, Plentiful Catering and Events at Plimoth Plantation in October and November offers two interactive dining experiences for our guests to enjoy - a New England Harvest Feast and The Story of Thanksgiving Dinner. Tickets available at MuseumofThanksgiving.org I hope you brought home some Plimoth Grist Mill cornmeal to make the Indian Pudding, a colonial dish.

We love the Boston Tea Party experience too. Many guests visit Boston then travel south, less than one hour to Plymouth where it all began and experience the 17th-century with the Wampanoag People and English interpreters playing the role of the Pilgrims, both great educational and fun experiences.

For me, this is a place to visit once. Even though the plantation is recreated, it is representative of an important part of American history. The homes have period furnishings and the actors are in period costumes which gives you an idea of the living conditions of the Pilgrims and Indians. We chose not to see the grist mill, and would have loved to see the replica of the Mayflower but it is currently being refurbished in preparation for the 400 year anniversary. If I am in the area, I would return to see that. The walk to get to and through the plantation is long and a little hilly, and some of it is dirt paths. Keep this in mind if you are traveling with anyone who has difficulty walking very far. I would imagine even pushing someone in a wheelchair would be extremely difficult. I didn't inquire, but I suggest calling ahead to find out if there is any special accommodations available. Be aware that it costs $30 per person to enter.

Hi Rhonda, Thank you for your comment, I will remind the front desk staff to be aware of our guests needs when selling tickets. Yes, we have several golf carts that are available to assist our mobile impaired guests from one exhibit to another. That request can be accommodated on arrival or if you need assistance while at the exhibits, we are a quick phone call away (the number is listed on the site map). There's no need for advance notice, this service is always available and complimentary. The golf carts move our guests from one exhibit to another, but they do not enter the exhibits, not to deter from the experience that we offer.
