Join us for Whale Watching in our cool Alaskan waters and then view one of 38 glaciers from the Juneau Ice Fields - the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier. We guide you on a 2 hour whale watching tour, spotting Humpback whales and other wildlife. Then off to the Mendenhall Glacier to spend some time hiking, watching fish spawn at Steep Creek or enjoy an outstanding view from the Visitor Center. If you are in Juneau all day - you can take advantage of our flexible Glacier Shuttle to get back to town. If you arrive in the afternoon expect to get 90 minutes at the park. But don't worry! That is the perfect amount of time to walk to nugget falls and take in the displays at the visitor center.

Tour time is a check-in time; departure is within 15 to 30 minutes.
The meeting place is under the cables in front of the Mt. Roberts Tramway.
All ports or docks are within 10 minutes walking distances, except one - the A Dock - which provides a “Downtown” shuttle to the Mt. Roberts Tramway.
Children must be accompanied by an adult
At time of booking, cruise ship passengers must provide the name of their ship
A moderate amount of walking is involved.
No food is allowed at the Mendenhall Glacier.
Tour operates in all weather conditions, so please dress appropriately in layers and for the likely chance of rain. It is recommended that you wear warm layered clothing, a waterproof jacket and comfortable slip-proof shoes
Always check with us regarding the shuttle schedule if you want to spend more than 1.5 hours at the Glacier park

Goldbelt Mount Roberts Tramway

This is our meeting point. We chose it because it is easy to spot from everywhere. We meet under the cables of the aerial gondola.

Inside Passage

We will drive you via bus out to Auke Bay Harbor, where you board our custom whale watching boats

Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center

We drive you via bus to this beautiful park. Time spent here depends on the time of day you arrive. Refer to your tour guide for the most accurate information.

Great Crew, got to get up close with a few whales. Knowledgeable and friendly. Captain knew the specific whales and their names. Lots of fun, well worth it!

We had a great experience with the Nature Hike Through a Rainforest and Banana boat ride out to Bennett island. The boat driver stopped and showed us nesting eagles and was a great experience at water edge on the shore. Our guide did a nice job once we got to the island of explaining tree succession and pointing out many of the wild life creatures in the forest. The tour was made special for my wife and I as one of our sons worked as guide on the same excursion some 16 years ago. I would suggest to ATA that they need to do some repairs on the plank/board walk as many were old and in disrepair. Not easy to negotiate for 70 year old hikers. I recommend this excursion.

Loved this trip! We saw 8 humpback whales and a pod of porpoises! We booked this excursion outside of the cruise and we're so glad we did. We saved over $50 per person and had a much more intimate experience. Our boat had 38 people onboard, whereas the cruise ship excursion had like 3X more.
