What To Expect

Presidio of San Francisco

Starting from the Lodge at the Presidio, our 2-mile walk on the Main Post in the Presidio will take us thru historic neighborhoods, past the oldest parts of San Francisco, and into the National Cemetery. Along the way we'll share stories about the people who have lived and worked here over the Presidio's 240+ years. You'll hear stories of ill-fated lovers, a house fire affecting a famous general and his family, and stories of heroes and a spy buried in the National Cemetery. We'll give you an overview of San Francisco's history and Presidio's role in its growth. Beginning as home of the Ohlone native people, to a Spanish, then Mexican military outpost, then U.S. Army base to national park site, the Presidio is now a park for the people! Our walk meets at the Lodge at the Presidio. Hope to see you there!

San Francisco National Cemetery

Stories of Buffalo Soldiers, a Union Spy, and a local Bay Area hero will capture your imagination, along with the spectacular view from the National Cemetery Overlook. Be sure to bring your camera, the views of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge are sure to inspire!

I booked a four hour Presidio tour with JB Walking Tours in celebration of my husband’s birthday. We are locals and invited friends to join us. Julie is fun and knowledgeable. She surveyed our group and targeted the discussion towards our interests and knowledge level. She has a good sense of time and kept the group moving so were able to complete the tour without feeling rushed. I would recommend her tour to locals and visitors. All in all, it was a great way to spend the afternoon. Thank you Julie!

Julie was not only knowledgeable about the Presidio, but she was enthusiastic and spent time answering everyone’s questions. She also allowed us time to take in not only the sights, but the history and anecdotes she was sharing. Julie clearly loves her job, and that shone through during our tour! She never made us feel rushed during our time with her, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
