Private All-Day Tour of Yellowstone National Park

Overview
If you only have one day to visit Yellowstone, this 1-day, 200+ mile private tour of Yellowstone’s Lower Loop is the tour to take. After departing Jackson we’ll drive north through Grand Teton National Park while transiting to Yellowstone, making several stops along the way to take photos, admire wildlife, and take advantage of the Flagg Ranch restrooms. Using bathrooms with running water is simply how we roll. We’ll then enter Yellowstone through the South Entrance just a little before 9 AM. From there, we’ll continue driving north to West Thumb Geyser Basin then to the famous Lake Yellowstone Hotel for short coffee break. From the Hotel, we’ll continue traveling north to admire the Mud Volcano, Hayden Valley, and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, before taking a lunch break at Canyon Village. Continuing west from Canyon, we’ll explore Fountain Paint Pots, and Grand Prismatic Hot Spring. We’ll cap the day with a visit to the Old Faithful Inn and see Old Faithful gush in all her glory.

Our guide Stacy picked us up right on time at the Old Faithful Inn (prior to arrival he helped secure our reservations). Our day started right there with Stacy highlighting the history and architecture of the lodge. We left to tour Geyser Basin, Yellowstone Lake, upper and lower falls, and the Lamar valley. Along the way there were plenty of stops for viewing moose, bison, elk and we arrived at some destinations just in time for geyser eruptions. The interpretation and insights Stacy shared ranged from the habits of the wildlife, geologic features and cultural history. He also provided suggestions as only a local could, on how to enjoy Mammoth Hot Springs the next day when we would be on our own. This was a return trip to Yellowstone so we felt we didn't need a guide, but for our anniversary trip my wife and I wanted to indulge. Looking back it was a no brainer decision. Not having to drive with one hand on the map and the other on the steering wheel, while trying to maneuver around the "bison traffic jams" made for a far better experience and lifelong memories. We'll be calling on Obsidian Cliff Tours when we plan a trip to Grand Teton Nat'l Park.
