Overview

Everyone else comes to the Bridge to take a photo and move on. Not us - we'll understand the huge effort that went in to getting the Bridge built, the lives lost and made, the scandals and celebrations. It's such a beautiful bridge but even better when you understand how it came to be.

In many ways the story of New York is the story of the Brooklyn Bridge. Almost nothing you see in the City existed before the Bridge - we'll use the Bridge as a way to understand the City that rose around it - the buildings, the other bridges, the transportation system, the people.

And then there are all the fun stories that span 140 years. We'll have a jam packed 90 minutes exploring the bridge, the city, and their history.

What To Expect

Brooklyn Bridge

Then we'll walk over the bridge, getting a chance to examine the architecture up close. Walking over the Bridge is an amazing experience and we'll talk about how much and how little this process has changed in the last 140 years.

City Hall Area

We'll finish up on the Manhattan side of the Bridge inside the lovely City Hall Park where we can see the alternative side of the Bridge and discuss beautiful downtown Manhattan that has popped up around it.

We had an amazing time with our guide Jonathan. His passion and knowledge for the Brooklyn Bridge was outstanding. He so rightly said when we were talking that a bridge is just a bridge until you know about it's history and he was so right. The background of the architecture, building and all it's history were mind blowing. It was such a hot day and we had such a great experience. Jon was an excellent tour guide! He shared many excellent stories about the people who designed the Brooklyn Bridge, the building of the bridge, and the bridge today. I am going to take the tour again with family!
