Private Brooklyn Bridge Tour with a Local

Overview
Everyone else comes to the Bridge to take a photo and move on. Not us - we'll understand the huge effort that went in to getting the Bridge built, the lives lost and made, the scandals and celebrations. It's such a beautiful bridge but even better when you understand how it came to be.

In many ways the story of New York is the story of the Brooklyn Bridge. Almost nothing you see in the City existed before the Bridge - we'll use the Bridge as a way to understand the City that rose around it - the buildings, the other bridges, the transportation system, the people.

And then there are all the fun stories that span 140 years. We'll have a jam packed 90 minutes exploring the bridge, the city, and their history.

If you want to walk the Brooklyn Bridge, and never forget you crossed it, go with Jonathan. He is extremely well informed; he knows about the details Ć”nd the historical context. And, not a minor detail: he is a storyteller pur sang. You’ll hear about the family who built it, the disasters that happened on the way, about construction challenges in those days and why it’s still here today. During the walk he shows historical pictures and drawings for a better understanding. Honestly, after having crossed the bridge with him, you are as passionate about it as he is. / This message is from a historian from the Netherlands.

Jon, our private Tour Guide, was personable and patient with our questions, knowlegable about the Bridge's history and architecture- very insightful. He knew the Roebling family history well, and 1000+ points for his many shout-outs to the critical, central role that Emily Roebling played in the Bridge's completion! Plus, it was a sunny, clear evening, and the Sunset was absolutely spectacular. I would recommend Jon's tour to anyone.
