Private Colonial Williamsburg Breakfast - Exploring Before and After Restoration

Overview
Relaxed, yet luxurious learning experience about Williamsburg before and after the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg in the late 1920s and early 1930s with photos and stories from either Williamsburg Before and After or Restoring Williamsburg. These photos help visualize and better understand the restoration of the world’s largest history museum. Most of the tour is seated during breakfast for those who enjoy the warmth (or air conditioning) indoors.

This is an easily accessible tour, well suited for those who enjoy a creative culinary experience, breakfast on bad weather days or for any individuals with physical limitations. Our guide will offer an easy tour of some of the grounds including a look at the Golden Horseshoe Golf courses or admire some of the original décor of the hotel and grounds as well as a short walk to the Duke of Gloucester St., the most historic street in America.

Note: Guests pay for their own breakfast including food, drinks and gratuities to hotel staff.

Having a delicious breakfast in the Williamsburg Inn is a treat, and learning about Colonial Williamsburg’s rich history makes breakfast even better. At the turn of the century, many buildings in the Colony of Virginia’s former capital city were crumbling. Our guide Bambi used the coffee table book “Williamsburg Before and After” (which we got to keep) to illustrate this historic city’s transformation into the largest outdoor living history museum in the world. Inspiring! Like taking a walk through history in an elegant, cozy setting. It’s also great for people who may have a hard time walking or who don’t want to venture out into the rain or cold. Huzzah!

I loved everything about this tour - our guide, the food, the Williamsburg Inn, the Before and After Book (that we got to keep) and the enthusiasm I felt learning about Colonial Williamsburg’s history. We had a rainy day and wanted to spend time learning, so this was perfect. I was amazed how knowledgeable our guide, Bambi, is and how she radiated happiness that was infectious. We signed up for her Holiday Decorations tour when the weather was nicer and it was spectacular too.

Our guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and kind. My wife is in a wheelchair with limited accessibility to some of Colonial Williamsburg’s sites. Both of us love to eat and The Terrace at the Williamsburg Inn was a culinary delight. Our guide gave us the Before and After Restoration and brought along more photos and stories than we could have imagined. We love our new book and highly recommend this tour.
