We found DETOURS when trying to book a private Grand Canyon tour. After using them for 2 private tours, I can Without a doubt recommend DETOURS as the way to go! From the initial phone call with Victoria, I felt completely at ease. She answered all my questions and concerns and helped to plan our private, unique experience. As a family of 4, with two older teens (13 & 16) and a 6'3" tall hubby and none of us being that small, we wanted to make sure we'd be comfortable during the ~12 hr trip. Victoria was able to get approval to open up a Monday tour date of Death Valley. I also shared that we are Star Wars fans and would love some stops to highlight where various scenes from Star Wars new hope was filmed. After the initial reservation, we received reminder emails and phone calls giving detailed information about our pick up location at The Cosmopolitan hotel. The level of care and customer service was impeccable even before we even began the tour! We hit the jackpot (pun intended) with Marty as our driver! He showed up on time and talked us through the amenities, cooler filled with ice and water bottles (we could add our own drinks too) and a back up case of water to ensure we were well hydrated! The vehicle was really beautiful, 2019 white Lincoln Navigator! He went through the buttons, let us select our seats and we were off! The ride was super comfortable and enjoyable! Marty was able to balance sharing interesting facts and funny anecdotes so that even our teens were engaged (most of the time lol)! We made a quick first stop at a local grocery store on the road and got a few drinks. Marty was great about asking for comfort checks and allowed us to choose if/when/where we stopped! We were on, as he would say, vacation time and could choose our own adventure! We made it Death Valley in really good time, fairly early and there was maybe 2 other people at our first stop, Dante's View. I really didn't know what to expect, as my hubby really wanted to go to this park. It was simply breathtaking! Since we are here in June with record high temps, we were concerned the tour might be canceled even (if temps expected to reach 115, the company would cancel). However it was almost chilly up on Dante's view because of the wind and early time! We are fairly adventurous and took the trail/hike out to the overlook spot off to the right of the parking! Then we got back and Marty pointed out the other tail off to the left of the parking lot and we decided to do that one too! Marty said he was highly impressed because he didn't see many take both trails in one day! After that, went down...way down below sea level to the bad water basin! Now it was at least 10 degrees hotter and almost 11 so feeling the heat! Marty showed us the sea level marker and let us wander around for awhile! He made sure we were drinking enough water! Then we drove down by devils golf course and then through artist's palette which was beautiful! We made our way down to furnace creek and stopped to lunch at 1849 buffet and looked in the general store. Then we headed to mesquite flat sand dunes. All in all we saw everything we had hoped to see and more! On the drive back to Vegas, we even spotted some burros (or were they donkeys ;) ) on the side of the road and we circled back to get a better view! All in all we had an incredible trip. Marty was a safe driver and very good at engaging and knowing when we were tired and letting it be quiet. We had such an incredible, memorable family time and I cannot thank Marty, Victoria, Ted, and DETOURS enough! I also created a review for our Grand Canyon tour here https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g45963-d2373828-r844211778-Detours_of_Nevada-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html
