Private Everglades National Park Photography, Birding and Wildlife Safari

Overview
Whether you are an amateur or a professional, this Private Photo Safari is the best way to photograph Everglades National Park’s wildlife. A very stable, flat-decked power boat is your shooting platform. Using an electric trolling motor, your guide will position you for the best shots. Unlike a shared tour, on a private tour, you and your shots are our only concern.

When shooting outdoors, the lighting is extremely important. Lighting is best in the mornings and late afternoons. As such, on this private tour, we depart before sunrise in the morning to be in position as soon as there is enough light to shoot. In the evening, we return after sunset. Since sunrise and sunset times vary throughout the year, we will contact you prior to your tour to arrange the actual meet time.

Our guides are on the water every day, year-round and have a good idea of the wildlife patterns. They can get you in position while the lighting is good.

What To Expect
1
Everglades National Park
Most of the 1.5 million acres in the Everglades National Park are flooded and essentially out of reach for average photographers and birders. But, not on this private experience. This Photo Safari opens up the vastness of the the Everglades. Lighting conditions are important early mornings and late afternoons are best. On the morning tours, we depart before sunrise and on the afternoon tours we are back after sunset. Many photographers enjoy shooting while standing in the water or on a remote sand beach. We encourage our guests to stay overnight locally as we arrive back at dark on the afternoon tours and leave at dawn in the mornings.
2
Chokoloskee Bay

Wonderful experience with a pleasant, knowledgeable professional captain who personalized our trip and took us off the beaten path. Patiently moved the boat to get the birds in the 'best' light to photograph. Highly recommend.

My wife and I went on this private boat photagraphy tour with Dan during our visit to Marco Island December 2021. Our captain was Dan and he was great! He was friendly, laid back and we had a great time. We went on the afternoon tour. We were originally scheduled to go in the morning but they called us the day before and suggested we change the time since there was a fairly high likelihood of fog that morning. This was really considerate and professional of them. The boat ride was smooth and dry and we were the only passengers in the boat which was great. We saw and photographed several osprey near their nests. We also got some good shots of great egrets. We saw two bald eagles but they were not close enough to photograph. Besides the bird photography there were 4 other fantastic things during the 1.5 h trip. Dan took us to an oyster shell mound, which was an ancient site of the Calusa Native people who lived in this area for thousands of years and ate a lot of shellfish which they piled up in a particular area. We had an Eagle Ray jump well out of the water near the boat. my wife caught a glimpse of a Manatee. Near sunset we went to a small island where several kinds of wading birds come to roost at night. This is a phenomenal site to see. Several hundred to a few thousand ibis, egrets, pelicans, cormorants and other birds all crowd onto the mango trees on this one small island. My best photos of this in the dimming light were videos with my iphone! As a bonus we had a magnificent frigate bird circling the island also! Even if you are not a birder or photographer, we recommend this a way to see the the Ten Thousand Islands area of the Everglades in a quiet, peaceful informative way!

Our Naturalist Master Captain took me and my wife on the morning before sunrise to about noon out on the water. I’m a photographer I have been on many many Naturalist tours Especially in Hawaiian Island since my timeshare is there I had the fortune there to go with one one the people that re-edit the Tory bird and an expert in like spiders. This Naturalist in The Everglades knew everything about the habitat and nesting and habits of birds which was my primary focus. He knew all about the Everglades and trees shrubs water and because I studied Oceanography and setup a weather Dept with Weather expert it was nice to also talk weather patterns and organisms in the Everglades. It was wonderful and absolutely informative. So it was just my wife and I and the Master Captain Naturalist. He did everything necessary so I got my Camera Shots with various Lenses Safety on the craft was always his overriding focus next came my photography and our questions and my wife’s love for bird watching and her questions environment of the Everglades.
