What To Expect

French Quarter

We start the tour on a walking segment in the French Quarter

Jackson Square

We begin with a basic history of the city here, describing the factors that brought about the city's founding.

St. Louis Cathedral

We stop for those who wish to go inside the cathedral,

Cabildo

We visit the Cabildo and explain the reasons for the Louisiana Purchase that took place inside the building.

Audubon Park

After the French Quarter segment, we leave to drive throughout the city and visit the park, where the process of granulating sugar was invented.

Faubourg Marigny

As the first suburb of the city, we describe the development of t his area and the major role it played in the Placage system of matchmaking and slavery.

Tulane University

We visit both Tulane and Loyola Universities and outline the 8 universities in town and their contributions to the development of New Orleans.

Garden District

After a tour of St. Charles Avenue, we visit the Garden District before ending in the Central Business DIstrict.

Dominick picked us up at the dock of The American Cruise Lines. He is a native and very knowledgeable. He gave us lots of information about the history of New Orleans. He found the perfect place for lunch. He found the perfect shops for souvenirs. He loves New Orleans and shared that love of the city with us. He was completely trustworthy, polite and friendly. I reached out to Dominick in the early stages of planning a trip to New Orleans given the numerous positive reviews. I was delighted to learn he could customize a full day tour for four of us on our first full day in the city. He recommended incorporating a morning of walking throughout the French Quarter, learning about the history, and then after lunch, hop in a van and take in the Garden District, a traditional NOLA cemetery and travel through areas impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Communication between booking and hotel pick-up was excellent. Customer service was excellent, and I was never in any doubt that he would ‘be there’ for us. Dominick also gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations and helped us decide which plantations to visit, and what else we could do on our remaining days in New Orleans. His personal touch was engaging and heartfelt. Great resource for ‘the best’ places to visit Seeing both the traditional and the non-traditional made for an impactful day, which consequently was the BEST day from our entire trip! Dominick is intelligent, and extremely knowledgeable about his native New Orleans. He was also a lot of fun, sharing comical stories about his Mardi Gras involvement and parade/float building/riding experiences. He weaves his stories into the sightseeing experience in such a way that you embrace New Orleans and its people. We all came away with an appreciation for his ability to give a broad perspective of the area’s history, both long ago and more recent.
