Overview

Our first stop will be at rainbow falls, home of the moon goddess hina, and one of the most visited waterfalls on the island. We will drive up the east coast of the island, which was once covered in sugarcane plantations. You will see waterfalls, lush greenery, tropical flowers, papaya fields, and stunning views of the ocean.

Stop for pictures along the way at several scenic spots overlooking the bay of hilo. A guest favorite stop is laupahoehoe point, a perfect picnic spot overlooking the blue ocean. You'll visit mokuola, the city of refugee, also now known as coconut island. Your guide will share with you the deep history that goes along with this place.

What To Expect

Waipi'o Valley

One of the greatest spots on earth as seen in Waterworld. This is one of the Black sand beaches on the Big Island it is also a very special place to the Hawaiian people very special and sacred.

Akaka Falls State Park

Then take a short hike at 'akaka falls, a majestic 442 feet waterfall. If the sky is clear you can see the beautiful mauna kea in the background.

We toured some of the most beautiful sights in the Island. Vahl was a wonderful story teller of all things Hawaii. We stopped at some great spots to snack and eat lunch as well.

It was a very private tour, driver plus my friend and I. Driver was very friendly, pleasant and attentive and you could feel he really loves what he does. Would recommend! Side note: be prepared to get soaked, it rains a lot in this area.

From start to finish Val made sure that our experience was perfect. I booked this for my mom’s birthday and he arrived with a beautiful lei for her. He was so knowledgeable and was always willing to take pictures for us (there were a lot) he even recommended a great place to eat lunch called Pineapples. He not only was a great tour guide but great company that me and my family enjoyed! Definitely recommend this tour.
