What To Expect
1
Tuzigoot National Monument
Water flows under and through this landscape, feeding the growth of people and towns. The Verde Valley is watered by snow melt, summer monsoons, and springs that well up from the ancient sedimentary rocks. In the heart of the valley, a thousand years ago, people began to build a little hilltop pueblo that would grow into one of the largest villages in the area.
2
Douglas Mansion
Learn more about the city of Jerome's extensive history and mining operation at Jerome State Historic Park. Douglas' grandfather began the family's involvement in copper mining in Canada. As an engineer and scientist, his father, James, traveled all over the world. Son James Stuart took to mining with gusto. It was in Nacozari, Mexico, that he acquired his nickname ("Rawhide") inspired by use of rawhide to reduce roller wear on a cable car incline.
3
Arizona Copper Art Museum
The Arizona Copper Art Museum tells a genuine story, one that marries Arizona’s greatest treasure with world legends and fantastic art by returning copper home to where it all began.

Overall the tour was really great, our tour guide was really knowledgeable of all the history in this little town. They were able to answer all of our questions. I definitely recommend if you go to this town to get a tour guide. History in this town is amazing, and our guide was absolutely wonderful. Although I can’t remember my tour guides name, however he was amazing. I will post a picture.

Well... Jerome is an "interesting" town. It is and has been sitting on a large copper ore deposit. The history of the town rivals that of other more famous locations like Tombstone and Dodge City. the fact that entire town is built on a hillside made getting around awkward, but the tour was in a van and we stopped at various flat places (although there weren't many). Most people seem to opt for the "Ghost tour" since that appears to be more in tune with the haunted identity the town has. This tour is for those that really "get into" the history of the region from its beginning in the mid 1800's up to date. If you just want to get a view of the town, try to find a parking place and walk around... up and down and up and down and up and down. It is totally a tourist destination now.
