We took this private carriage tour at 11am on a weekday. We knew that from earlier research about these tours that we wouldn’t know what route our guide would be taking until we reached the station where the route is picked by lottery at that moment. But for us the route didn’t matter as we were just looking for a relaxing carriage stroll through the streets of historic Charleston while being entertained by a guide educating us with some of the history of the city.
And that’s exactly what we got. Our guide Mike and our horse Chico treated us to a beautiful and memorable ride up and down some of the streets that make up the historic district. There were some times when we had to really listen to understand Mike’s southern accent, which even made the carriage ride that much more authentic, but those times were far and few between.
We were very glad that we took the private carriage tour and that we took it with Carolina Polo and Carriage Company. It was without a doubt, a highlight of our visit to Charleston.
